This country girl, a blogger? Let's give it a go!

I've thought about doing a blog for so long now... I just never got around to getting one set up (and honestly, I'm still not sure I have this all set up properly!), but decided it was time to as least give it  try!

To start though, it took creating a name for the blog. I thought over this one for quite some time. There were so many options and words that I was trying put together, for what I thought would be a good way to sum up this glimpse into my life. As a Christian, my life is a journey. A blessing filled adventure, gifted to me by God. So I like to think of each day as another step in my journey. But a journey to what? Our days are filled with choices, to do right, or to do wrong; to look heavenward, or to our own selfish desires. But as a child of God, we should ever be yearning to be led to new heights of Christian love, joy, and victory along our journey. In Habakkuk 3:19 it says:

The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me walk upon mine high places.

I love this verse, and it also inspired one of my favorite books, Hinds' Feet on High Places, by Hannah Hurnard. It is a beautifully well done Christian allegory following the story of Much-Afraid, and her journey to the high places. If you haven't read it, then do! :)

It seemed a perfect fit, a way to sum up my whole adventure of life. To help me always remember that in my journey, the high places should always be my goal; and that in the good times and the hard times, to  have full reliance on my Good Shepherd!
It also refers to my love of the outdoors, and of mountains. My love for adventures in their various forms. To the daily journey of a Scottish blooded, stubborn, thoughtful, creative, adventurous, country girl in cowgirl boots and a leather jacket, who has been saved by Christ! (That's me, if you're wondering ;)
So, Journey to High Places it is!

I hope to use this blog as a way to record some of the adventures and daily happenings in my life. Like adventures, daily life in a big family, my interests, things I learn, & whatever else I think of... There will probably be a fair amount of animal/veterinary related posts, because, why not? ;)

So, this country girl is going to have a blog. Maybe. I'll give it a go for sure!
Anyone got any tips for setting up a good blog? I'd love to hear your ideas and input!
